What you first must realize is that a theme that works really good for you may not work really good for another person. This depends on many things, such as your personality, your approach to affiliate marketing, and so on.

Just think about it for a second… Think about your personality and how that may be best reflected by a particular theme. If you are someone who is stern, strict, and write very well structured/organized articles on your website, you may want a more structured and straightforward website theme… Something basic. On the other hand, if you are someone who has a very flexible website and likes to blog about things that just roll off the top of their head, you may want a more relaxed and customizable theme that you can personalize more to your liking.

It all depends, but I'm not going to get into every little detail that it may depend on. One thing I do want to talk about is what type of approach you take when it comes to affiliate marketing, because this makes a big difference.

What do you call yourself? Are you a blogger? Are you someone that has a comparison site and writes strictly reviews? What is it that you do or are planning to do?

What I considered to be the best WordPress theme for affiliate marketers is based on my own perspective as a blogger... Who also writes a lot of product reviews.

Now I have seen people that create affiliate marketing websites that resemble e-commerce sites. Basically they look just like e-commerce sites, but when you click to buy a product it redirects the person to the sellers website. If you are looking for a theme to go along with this style of affiliate marketing then what I'll be covering here is probably not what you are looking for.

Okay... So you are probably at the point right now or you want me to just get to the point already. And I will do exactly that.

The theme that I use, and have been using for quite a while now, is FocusBlog by Thrive Themes.

This is the theme of the website you are currently on right now. What I like about this theme so much is that it has lots of room for customization, give you additional features inside the WordPress editor, is conversion-focused, and more… As I will go over.

Thrive Shortcodes

The shortcodes are in addition that you will get inside the normal WordPress editor that you normally would not have. These shortcodes allow you to insert a number of different things into your pages/posts. These include things like buttons, grids, optin forms, Google maps, content tabs, number counters, custom fonts, and a number of different things.

They allow you to spice up your pages/posts so that they aren't just the same old boring text format all the time.

Thrive Columns

The columns feature is something else you get access to inside the WordPress editor, which you normally wouldn't have access to. As you can imagine, this allows you to easily create columns…

Just as an example below, you can see that I created three 1/3 sized columns below. Columns like this are often effective when you are comparing things side-by-side, such as prices and features of different products for example.

You can insert images into these columns and you can also choose to add buttons from the Thrive shortcodes that are provided…

Theme Options

With FocusBlog you also have a fair number of theme options so that you can customize it to your liking. For example you will be able to change between a variety of different theme colors among many other things such as being able to change the layout settings, blog settings, analytics/scripts, comments, etc.

Thrive Opt-In

Thrive Themes is the company behind the FocusBlog theme so there is no wonder that they have built in the ability to create opt-in forms… Since Thrive Themes is all about conversion focused websites.

With the Thrive opt-in feature you can easily put often forms that were created with your autoresponder service, such as Aweber or GetResponse, pretty much anywhere on your website.

Focus Areas

And yet another way to capture leads and increase conversions, whatever type of conversions you may be looking for, is to create Focus Areas.

With the Focus Areas feature you can create nice looking optin forms and then integrate them with an autoresponder service…

Other Reasons This Theme Is Awesome

#1 - It Loads Fast

You can't forget about site speed. You might find the most beautiful theme in the world, but if it isn't fast then it isn't something that you want. Just think about it… What is the first thing you do when it is taking a site too long to load? Well… Maybe you try refreshing, but many people just press the back button and find a different website.

FocusBlog by Thrive Themes is built for speed. It is not a bloated theme that is going to bog down your website. I don't have any statistics as to how fast the theme actually is, but it works plenty well for me.

#2 - Mobile Friendly

Something else that is very important to consider when choosing a theme is whether or not it is mobile friendly. If your website theme is not mobile friendly than you were going to be massively hindering your chances of conversions.

No one likes to go to a website on their smart phone where they need to zoom in on every single part of the website and navigate around left to right trying to locate what they are looking for… It is a hassle and will lead to many people just leaving.

FocusBlog, and all of the themes created by Thrive Themes, is mobile friendly. It doesn't matter if you are visiting at on a smart phone, tablet, whatever… It will look nice and be easy to navigate.

#3 - Pre-made Page Templates

This theme also comes with some pre-made page templates. This way you can load up some nice looking homepages, landing pages, sales pages, etc. and go from there. These can be a big help especially when you're just getting started, and/or just don't feel like going through the hassle yourself of creating such pages from scratch.

#4 - Tech Support

One of the many benefits you often get when you pay for a WordPress theme is technical support. That said, Thrive Themes definitely offers some of the best support from any sort of service like this I have ever been a part of.

I haven't had any troubles with the FocusBlog theme in particular, but I have used the tech-support quite a bit for the many plugins that have been created by Thrive Themes (Thrive Themes creates conversion-focused themes and plug-ins). I have never had any sort of problem and tech-support has always been great and very fast at getting back to you.

If you want to, you can actually give the tech-support limited access to your website and they can go in and fix any sorts of problems/glitches there might be, which is nice if you don't feel like doing anything.

The big downside to FocusBlog is of course that it costs money… But with any good WordPress theme you are going to have to spend money. I mean you can get decent WordPress themes for free, but for "good" ones, you will have to pay.

As you can see below, the price for a single site license is $49. This will allow you to use this theme on one website. Included with that price is free updates for life along with free support for one year.

If you want to use this same theme on multiple different websites than you would want to go with the $67 "unlimited personal license". And if you want all there is to offer, you could go with the Thrive Themes Membership, which gives you access to all of their themes and plug-ins, along with unlimited use to all of them, for $299 per year.

I may Thrive Themes member and pay the $299 yearly. But this is because it is a much better deal for me since I use many of their plug-ins, such as Thrive Leads which is great for increasing website conversions as well as Thrive Architect that is great for creating beautiful landing pages.

I haven't used a free WordPress theme in quite some time, but did start out with multiple ones early on. In fact, I would switch between themes very often trying to find something that was perfect.

Omega is one of the nicer themes out there for bloggers in my opinion. It is a very clean and basic website, which I think often times can be more effective.

OceanWP and Modernize are two other very popular free themes out there that are good for bloggers.

As I said in the beginning, there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to what theme you should be using. There are a variety of different opinions on this and you have to just find something that you like. You have to find what works for you.

Personally I really like FocusBlog by Thrive Themes and I know a lot of others that like it as well, which is why it is one thing that I definitely recommend for bloggers who are engaging in affiliate marketing. It is a great customizable conversion-focused WordPress theme that works as intended and that I have never had any problems with.

So I will be sticking with FocusBlog but by no means am I saying that you need to be going with this theme as well. However, I do think you should at least consider it.
