The Drop Rewards App Review – Is It Worth Your Time?

Drop appWelcome to my review of the Drop Rewards App.

If you are looking to get some cashback on the purchases you make, which you should be looking to do, then the Drop Rewards App is one of many cashback apps out there that gives you the ability to easily do this. But is this app any good? Is it legit? Or is the Drop app somehow a scam that is going to be a waste of your time and put you at risk? In this review I’ll be going over all you need to know…

Drop Rewards App Review

The Drop App is a pretty cool and helpful app, but its nothing new. Its pretty much the same thing as the Dosh app. Basically what this app does is automatically grants you cash back on your purchases. Whats nice about it is that you just hook it up to your credit or debit card and that’s it. It will track your purchases and give you cashback when its able to.

With this app you can get cashback on all sorts of purchases: stores, restaurants, you name it. But you won’t actually get “cash”back right away. You will earn points which can then be redeemed for rewards of real value.

The Point of It?

They don’t tell you on the website but I’m guessing the purpose of this app is to do market research, to track customer spending behaviors and habits. This data that is collected can then be sold.

This is different from your normal cashback programs like ExtraBuxTopCashBack, and Dosh.

This is the reason for most cashback apps of this kind, but again, this is just a guess.

How It Works

Its pretty darn simple. After downloading the free app you will have to link your credit/debit card to the app. To do this you will have to login to your bank online through the Drop App. There are some banks that I’m sure this will not work for but if you are with a major bank then this won’t be a problem.

When you initially link a card you will get 500 points for doing so. For the second card that you link you will receive 2,000 points.

After linking your card you simply go about your normal purchasing as you would do before you downloaded the app. Nothing has changed here. Drop will automatically track your purchases and give you points. The points will not go into your account instantly but you will receive them within 5 days they tell you.

Update: Drop now requires you to either accept or decline offers. This can be a pain and makes more work on your part.

After you accumulate enough points you will be able to redeem them for a variety of gift cards. There are plenty of gift cards that you can get so no on should have a problem here. You can redeem your points for gift cards to Amazon, Dunkin Doughnuts, JC Penny, Best Buy, and plenty more.

How Much Can You Earn?

This depends. You will earn points based on the amount of money you spend and the rates vary greatly depending on where you are spending your money.

For example if you shop at Walmart (right now) you will earn 2 points for each $1 you spend. But if you shop at Sam’s Club you will earn 30 points per dollar. And if you ride with Uber you will earn 15 points for each dollar spent.

It all depends.

Good & Bad

I would say the best thing about this app is that you don’t need to scan receipts or anything like that in order to get your points. That can be a hassle and this totally eliminates it. All you have to do is hook up your card to it and the purchases are tracked.

Of course this opens up a concern with the safety and risk or linking your card to the app, but I honestly wouldn’t worry about it too much. I don’t see anyone complaining about it.

Another complaint is how Drop now requires you to accept or decline offers. It was much simpler when it was automatic but now you actually have to go in and manually accept or decline.

Conclusion on The Drop App

The Drop Rewards App overall is a pretty nice app. Its not like you are to make much but its an easy way to get rewarded for the shopping you already do.

The choice of using this app is up to you. I’m not going to tell you to use it and I’m not going to tell you not to.

Also, since you are into cashback apps I would suggest taking a look at Ibotta, which is one of my favorite cashback apps. It is particularly good for grocery shopping.

If a little cashback isn’t for you and you are looking for more, you might be interested in this program. I’ve been a member since 2015 and make a full-time income online with it now.
